- A survey on genetic variation of Avicennia marina on Red Sea coast, Sudan
(2011/6/23-7/10)
Okayama University/Student, Ichido Yoshimori
We collected leaf samples in Avicennia marina stands on Red Sea coast of Sudan. Those samples will be used in the DNA analysis for assessment of genetic variation in this species on Rea Sea coast.
We intend to conduct microsatellite analysis using leaf samples collected in Red Sea coast of Egypt and Sudan. Based on the results of analysis, genetic variation in each stand will be assessed quantatively and then the history of forest extraction and constraction and the history of species distribution will be estimated. The regeneration process of forests also will be investigated by genetic relatedness between individuals.
