June 23 Departure from KIX

June 27 Meeting with staffs, including Mr. Abdelmoneim, of Institute of Marine Research, Red Sea University for the future collaboration and preliminary survey.
June 28 Moved of Dungonab Bay and conducted a preliminary survey on seagrass beds beside a mongrove forest. Interviews were performed with local fishermen at Dungonab villagers and found that dugongs were often seen in the bay. Passive acoustic monitoring system was deployed on a seagrass bed in the Dungonab Bay at 20:00. Interview surveys revealed that dugongs inhabit the area and the acoustic survey revealed the acoustical environmental characteristics.
It is desired to visit the site again during summer to specify suitable research site.
June 29 The acoustic recording device was retrieved. Visited a seagrass bed beside a mangrove forest in south of Port Sudan.
