- Meeting on the mangrove studies

Between the 15 April to 16 April, 2011, we had a meeting on the mangrove studies at the Okayama University (laboratory office of Prof. Yoshikawa). The participants were Prof. Yoshikawa, Mr. Teraminami, Mr. Yoshimori, Miss Ishihara (Okayama Univ.), Prof. Komiyama (Gifu Univ.), Prof. Nakashima (Wakayama Univ.), Dr. Matsuo (Mie Univ.), Dr. Nawata, Dr. Ichikawa, Dr. Nakamura (RIHN).
We discussed the domestic situation and public peace in the study areas: Sudan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia and had a talk about the research method to observe the Camel feeding pressure to mangroves.
Based on the Dr. Nawata’s presentation on the Mangroves in Sudan, we concretely discuss the research plan in Sudan: research periods, area, member, and method.
The presentation of Prof. Komiyama gave us knowledge on the characteristics of biomass allocation and productivity of mangrove.
